Gross Ile beat Michigan Center 4-1 in Regional soccer. Mike Van Riper played well in net with 15 saves. Alex Hunt scored the MC goal.
VOLLEYBALL
The Warriors traveled to Michigan Center for their Conference Tournament. They first matched up with Vandercook Lake and took them down in two sets (25-9,25-15). Moving on to play Manchester they came out on top in another two sets (25-22,25-15). Advancing to the finals they faced Napoleon in a three set battle but to fall short. They dropped the first set 20-25, won the second 25-22, and then couldn’t pull off the third set losing 19-25. Sophomore, Olivia Turner led at the service line serving 44-for-51 with 15 aces and 36 points. Turner snagged up 42 digs and 15 kills. Junior, Abby Buttigieg led with 47 digs and was also key serving 29-for-30 with seven digs and 18 aces. Leah Allen followed serving 26-for-28 with five aces and 13 points. Allen also had 25 digs. Layne Terry was perfect serving 21-for-21 with 11 points. Ruby Johnson led at the net with 26 kills and had four blocks. Jasmine Carr had 14 kills and seven blocks. Monique Diehl had six big blocks also. Catherine Cottle racked up 24 assists while Cheyenne Mosher had 28. The Warriors finished 2nd in the conference finishing 7-4 and are now 21-9 overall. They travel to East Jackson Wednesday the 3rd at 5:00pm for Districts. |
