Grass Lake traveled to Clinton and posted an impressive 4-0 win in a District Final rematch from last year. The scoring was once again spread out with Gus Vitale, Wesley Good, Henry Black and Tyler Chizek all tallying goals. Ryan Kraus and Zeke Dubiel each added assists along with Good and Black.

VOLLEYBALL

The Grass Lake Warriors hosted The Columbia Central Eagles and took them to a five intense sets falling by two points in the fifth (25-22,20-25,27-25,19-25,16-25). The team played incredible all night long and didn’t make it an easy win for The Eagles. The Warriors came back from being down 3-10 in the fifth set to close the gap but coming up short 14-16. Catherine Cottle put up 35 assists. Olivia Turner led with 13 kills and 32 digs. Turner went 19-for-22 serving with eight points. Ruby Johnson followed at the net with 12 kills. Abby Buttigieg had 30 digs and was perfect at the line going 17-for-17 with seven points. Mia Buttigieg was key at the service line in the first and third sets serving 15-for-16 with 11 points for the match. Leah Allen played another big roll serving going 19-for-20 with 15 points. Tough loss for The Warriors but they played with such fire and heart. They take the court Tuesday at home against Vandercook Lake.

Napoleon lost a hard fought battle vs. Chelsea 11-25, 28-30, 20-25.  Momo Hampton led the Pirates with 18 assists, 13 digs and 2 aces.  Alyssa Budd contributed 9 kills and 8 digs while Sam Conaway added 5 kills and Ileah Kane had 5 digs.  The Pirates are 6-5-1 overall, 2-0 in the Cascades Conference. —
