The Lady Warriors traveled to Vandercook Lake for their first District game against The Napoleon Pirates. Before tonight the warriors have seen the Pirates three times this season and have been able to take the W on all three occasions. Grass Lake was able to seal the deal tonight with a fourth win. Napoleon put up a good hard fight but the team was able to push back and play aggressive till the very last point. Grass Lake took set one (25-20) and struggled to take set two losing in a close (23-25) set. Set three was another nailbiter with Grass Lake winning (26-24). Grass Lake started off behind in the fourth set until Junior Kendall Shankland stepped up to serve and got them back in the game with a 9 point service run. Senior, Anna Lockridge and Junior, Ruby Johnson had a few huge kills from senior setter Andrea Kleine to get the team fired up and finished the game (25-20). Anna Lockridge had a game high of 21 kills and 22 digs. Kendall Shankland, was a key server for the night going 21-for-21 with 14 service points and had 26 digs. Anna Konopka and Abby Buttigieg were also big in the back row with Konopka digging up 20 balls and Buttigieg getting 18. Ruby Johnson had 9 aggressive kills at the net. Emily Taylor contributed with 4 blocks for the night and multiple hard kills. Our front row couldn’t have done it without Andrea Kleine who had a game high of 43 assists. The Warriors move on to the semi-finals Wednesday against Jackson Prep at Vandercook Lake again at 5:30.
