Grass Lake will advance to the Division 3 state finals after learning its semifinal opponent, Hemlock, has withdrawn from the state tournament due to a COVID-19 issue. Grass Lake will seek its first-ever state championship in girls basketball on Friday.
Grass Lake's girls basketball team will play in the Division 3 state semifinals Wednesday after beating Brooklyn Columbia Central, 49-36 Monday. Abrie Cabana led the Warriors with 19 points, Gabi Lutcha scored 11 and Lexi Bargesser 10.
Grass Lake's girls and Hanover-Horton's boys will both seek state championships next week in basketball. The Warriors reached the quarterfinals by beating Ypsilanti Arbor Prep in the Regional final at Whitmore Lake while Hanover-Horton extended its season by getting past Leslie in the boys regional.
